Pre-Adoptive Evaluations

I provide pre-adoptive psychological evaluations for potential adoptive parents. These evaluations are often required as part of international adoption, as one portion of the screening process. Pre-adoptive evaluations often involve a clinical interview as well as administration of a personality inventory. As countries vary in their requirements, I will request documentation from your adoption agency to ensure I tailor the evaluation to fulfill all requirements. Following testing, I will score the personality inventory and integrate this data with the interview to write a summary report, guided by your agency’s requirements.

In addition to fulfilling the country and agency requirements for these evaluations, I strive to make them as helpful as possible, which can include providing psychologically relevant cross-cultural resources, or educational discussions around parenting. Pre-adoptive evaluations are generally able to be completed in one visit of 2-3 hours. Evaluations can be done in-person in Bexley, Ohio, or virtually (when permitted) to those residing in PSYPACT* states. The flat fee for pre-adoptive evaluations ranges from $500 to $900 per individual ($1000 to $1800 per couple), depending on evaluation component requirements (which vary from country to country) .
