Parent Consultation and Support

In addition to individual therapy, I offer parent consultation sessions for parents of anxious youth. Research has shown that parents are so integral to the anxiety treatment process, that parent-focused interventions (without the child even being present), can reduce child anxiety symptoms. Parent consultation can be done in collaboration with your child's therapy or can be a great option for the parent of a child or adolescent who is not ready to engage in therapy themselves.

In parent consultation sessions, I use cognitive behavioral, acceptance, and mindfulness based frameworks to collaborate with parents in a supportive, judgment-free environment. Together, we examine what strategies you might be using to respond to your child's anxiety, evaluate collaboratively how well they are working, what strengths can be supported, and what changes can be tried.

I primarily provide parent consultation for parents of youth with general anxiety, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, social anxiety, separation anxiety, and perfectionism. I also have experience working with parents of youth with depression, disruptive behavior, and trauma.

Parent consultation begins with an initial intake, where we meet for me to learn more about your child and family, assess mutual fit, and identify consultation goals. This 90-minute session is $250. Ongoing consultation sessions, which are 50-55 minutes, are $185.

I am able to offer parent consultations in-person in Bexley, Ohio, and virtually to parents residing in PSYPACT states. PSYPACT states include Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Connecticut, Colorado, Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin
